SIMPLE PAST:
To speak about events that started and finished in the past, it is also used to speak about habits in the past.

SIMPLE PRESENT:
We use it to talk about routines, and scientific facts. Also to speak about things that happen in the present, but that are not happening at the exact moment of speaking.

FUTURE FORMS

Going to is used to speak about events that are arranged to happen, there is a plan, something that has been scheduled because it is a short-term time frame. We make predictions based on what we see, hear and feel.
(Be going to or present continuous):tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, tonight, soon, next week/ month/ year/ summer etc, in a week/ month.
